Tony Bainbridge has extensive international HR and organisation transformation experience gained over more than 30 years in a range of sectors including consumer, healthcare, business services, technology and hospitality.
After gaining classic ‘blue chip’ HR training in Mars and PepsiCo he has held a variety of HR leadership positions at organisations including Novartis in the US, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) plc, and Wilmington plc. Additionally he served as Managing Director for CIBAVison France, the French market leaders in optical and surgical products for three years. He speaks fluent French.
His change management experience includes the dismantling of the Plastics Division of Rexam plc comprising 35 plants worldwide being sold in 5 separate transactions to PE backed businesses, and managing the people and organisation aspects of the sale of Edwards from BOC into private equity. As SVP, HR for EMEA at IHG he was responsible for a significantly restructuring an organisation of 75,000 employees across the region.
In 2014 Tony moved to Denmark to take up the role of SVP HR for Saxo Bank based in Copenhagen for 2 years, before returning to the UK to join Wilmington PLC as Group HR Director. Over the next 4½ years the company underwent significant change and the quality of leadership talent was raised significantly. Tony upgraded the HR function and was a key contributor to the organisational transformation of the Group. He supported the introduction of a new CEO and was instrumental in the Group’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tony left Wilmington in July 2020 in order to set up his consultancy ‘Transforming Business Through Talent’ enabling him to apply his business transformation experience, along with his associate network of proven professionals, to a wider international client group.
